A Note from Mrs. Terry -
Welcome to English class. In ninth and tenth grade, students at Cartersville High School study World Literature and Composition. These tandem courses are designed to introduce students to works of literature from around the world with an emphasis on particular authors and their poems, dramas, novels, non-fiction texts, and short stories. Students will receive daily instruction and supported practice in reading, writing, speaking, and vocabulary-enhancement as well as language skills.
This is my sixteenth year as an English teacher at Cartersville High School. During this time, I have taught Ninth and Tenth Grade Literature and Composition in addition to British Literature and Reading Comprehension. I earned my BA in English and my BS in education from Kennesaw State University. My graduate work in literacy was completed at Walden University. I, along with my husband, reside in the community. My own children, an industrial engineering alumnus of Georgia Tech and a registered nurse with a BSN from Kennesaw State, are products of Cartersville City Schools; accordingly, as a parent and as a faculty member, I can attest to the high-quality education offered at all grade levels in the system.
I maintain this site as a resource so students have easy access to vital information for successful completion of their English course. It is also my hope that parents will utilize the site as a means of assisting and monitoring their students. At the top of the page, simply select Tenth Grade Literature and Composition. There, you will find the course syllabus, relevant course links, and assignment requirements as well as copies of support materials distributed in class organized by the course units of study.
If you need to contact me directly, email me at [email protected] or call 770-387-4761. Please note that I will not be able to speak with you while working with students. I, however, will return calls as soon as possible if you wish to leave a voice mail. Whether you contact me by email or telephone, expect return correspondence within 24 hours during the school week. You will find my current class schedule on the tabs above if you wish to call during my planning period. I look forward to a pleasant and productive year with all of my students!
Regards,
Tish Terry
